Calculation of temperature fields

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1977
A method is discussed for solving heat-transfer problems in various regions for variable thermophysical characteristics. The method is based on the reduction of boundary-value problems of mathematical physics to infinite systems of linear algebraic equations which can be solved by the reduction method.

Far-field calculations for turbofan noise

AIAA Journal, 2001
The development of variable-order mapped infinite wave envelope elements for finite element modeling of acoustic radiation from turbofan nacelles is reviewed. These elements can be used outside of the near field as a nonreflecting boundary condition and as a finite-dimensional discretization of the infinite exterior domain for calculation of far-field ...

Ray Trace Calculations of Ultrasonic Fields

Research in Nondestructive Evaluation, 1986
A computer code has been written to calculate realistic ultrasonic fields in solids. The program calculates the field due to a transducer coupled to the solid through either a fluid medium such as water or a solid medium such as a plastic shoe with a thin layer of fluid couplant. In this technique the transducer face is divided up into many small areas,

Fast nonparaxial scalar focal field calculations

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014
An efficient algorithm for calculating nonparaxial scalar field distributions in the focal region of a lens is discussed. The algorithm is based on fast Fourier transform implementations of the first Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral and assumes that the input field at the pupil plane has a larger extent than the field in the focal region.

Monte Carlo field calculations

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1977
The paper is concerned with a method of calculating potentials and fields that is particularly suited to engineering problems with complicated 3-dimensional geometries. The method solves Laplace's equation numerically using a floating random-walk technique. The efficiency of the basic method can be improved substantially by some simple generalisations,

A Tension Field Calculator

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1957
The calculator is a device in slide rule form for assisting in the design and stressing of flat rectangular panels in shear. In the Incomplete Tension Field theory, the ratio q/qb becomes an important factor, whereq applied shear stress (lb./in.2)qb shear stress at which panel first buckles (lb./in.2).This ratio is normally evaluated by use of the ...

Near field calculations with far field formulas

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1996 Digest, 2002
We discuss a method for using far field formulas to calculate near field effects by decomposition. The method uses complex scattered amplitudes rather than radar cross sections as inputs, and therefore has certain advantages over the scattering centers approach.
