Evaluation of some weed extracts against field dodder on alfalfa (Medicago sativa)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1988
Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of some weed extracts against field dodderCuscuta campestris Yunck. on alfalfa (Medicago stiva L.) and to identify and quantify the phytotoxic agents of these extracts. All concentrations of aqueous extract of every weed showed significant effectiveness on dodder when compared to the untreated ...

First record of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris) parasitizing invasive buffalobur (Solanum rostratum)

Journal of Plant Pathology, 2020
Solanum rostratum (buffalobur) is one of the infamous invasive cosmopolitan weeds. Until now, however, there is no efficient method to control this weed. To find potential biological control agents for it, we carried out field surveys in Northeast China, and tested effects of a potential agent on buffalobur and their structural connection in both ...

Glyphosate Dose Affected Control of Field Dodder (Cuscuta campestris) in the Tropics

Weed Technology, 2008
Field and greenhouse experiments were conducted in 2005 and 2006 in Guam to evaluate the effects of glyphosate on field dodder control and to describe glyphosate dose–response curves on selected ornamental plants grown with and without dodder infestation. Visual quality of dodder-free plants decreased with increasing dose of glyphosate.

Efficacy of herbicides and their time of application on field dodder (Cuscuta) in lucerne

Indian Journal of Weed Science
Parasitic weed Cuscuta is a serious problem in lucerne and other crops has negative impacts on the growth and yield of lucerne. Hence, effective control of Cuscuta in lucerne is necessary to reduce yield losses. Considering the seriousness of the problem, an experiment was conducted during Rabi seasons of the 2020-21 and 2021-22 on loamy sand soil at ...

Potential biological control agents of field bindweed, common teasel and field dodder from Slovakia.

2008
Summary Field explorations during 2001 to 2006 in Slovakia resulted in the discovery of several potential biological control agents of the three weeds, field bindweed, Convolvulus arvensis L.; common teasel, Dipsacus fullonum L.; and field dodder, Cuscuta campestris Yuncker. The five top candidates are described in the following.

Control of Field Dodder (Cuscuta campestris) Parasitizing Tomato with ALS-Inhibiting Herbicides

Weed Technology, 2012
Field dodder is a parasitic plant that attaches to the stems and leaves of broadleaf plants, including weeds, field crops, vegetables, and ornamentals, throughout most agricultural regions of the world. Effective field dodder control is extremely difficult to achieve, due to the nature of attachment and close association between host and parasite ...

Selective and effective control of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris) in chickpea with granular pendimethalin

Weed Technology, 2019
AbstractField dodder is an obligatory stem and leaf plant parasite that causes significant damage in field and vegetable crops in all agricultural regions of the globe. Selective and effective measures to control the parasite are extremely limited. In recent studies, we have shown that granular formulations of dinitroaniline cell division–inhibiting ...

Bio-herbicidal potential and chemical analysis of secondary metabolites of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.)

2023
The objective of this study focused on characterizing chemically and evaluating in vitro the allelopathic and bioherbicidal potential of secondary metabolites (phenolic compound) extracted from the stem of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) in seed germination, early seedling growth (radical and shoot length) and early plant growth tests of ...

PROSPECTS FOR THE BIOLOGICAL CONTROL OF THE NOXIOUS QUARANTINE WEED FIELD DODDER (CUSCUTA CAMPESTRIS YUNCK.)

Bulletin of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University
