Field Dodder: Life Cycle and Interaction with Host Plants [PDF]
Cuscuta as a generalist type of holoparasitic plant interacts with various host plants in different manners, and all Cuscuta species depend (absolutely) on host plants to complete their life cycle. Field dodder is a parasitic plant that attaches to stems and leaves of broadleaf plants, including weeds, field crops, vegetables, and ornamentals, across ...

Assessment of allelopathic influence of some cruciferous species on germination indicators of field dodder seeds [PDF]
Abstract Background Field dodder is a parasitic plant that has long been a concern in agriculture and natural ecosystems and a difficult plant to control. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the allelopathic effect of four species of cruciferous plants on germination parameters of field dodder seeds and to determine the isothiocyanate compounds in ...

Impact of salinity on seed germination and early establishment of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) [PDF]
The aim of this study was to determine the reaction of Cuscuta campestris Yunck. at different salt concentrations, due to the possibility of predicting its spread to areas with saline soils. Seeds of field dodder were placed in Petri dishes filled with 5 mL of salt solution with different concentrations of NaCl (5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 μM).

Effect of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) on the anatomical parameters of alfalfa [PDF]
The effects of field dodder on the anatomical changes in alfalfa plants were examined under controlled conditions. Experiment included the following variants: non-infested alfalfa plants (control); infested alfalfa plants (untreated) and infested plants treated with propizamyde. Propizamyde application rates were 3000 g A.I. ha-1 and 4000 g A.I.

Chemical control methods for field dodder in alfalfa and sugar beet [PDF]
Parasitic flowering plants have recently come into focus of research interests as a result of their notable expansion and increasing damage that they are causing in agricultural fields. Damage caused by field dodder in alfalfa crops mainly includes reduced yield of fresh biomass and considerable decrease in seed production.

Efficacy of herbicides and their time of application on field dodder (Cuscuta) in lucerne
Parasitic weed Cuscuta is a serious problem in lucerne and other crops has negative impacts on the growth and yield of lucerne. Hence, effective control of Cuscuta in lucerne is necessary to reduce yield losses. Considering the seriousness of the problem, an experiment was conducted during Rabi seasons of the 2020-21 and 2021-22 on loamy sand soil at ...

Breaking of physical dormancy and evaluation of environmental factors on seed germination of field dodder parasite (Cuscuta Campestris) [PDF]
In order to knowledge the dormancy and seed germination of field dodder in response to environmental factors (sulfuric acid (physical dormancy), light, temperature, salinity and drought stress) four separate experiments were conducted at agricultural ...
