Carbon Nanotube Field Emitters Synthesized on Metal Alloy Substrate by PECVD for Customized Compact Field Emission Devices to Be Used in X-Ray Source Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
In this study, a simple, efficient, and economical process is reported for the direct synthesis of carbon nanotube (CNT) field emitters on metal alloy. Given that CNT field emitters can be customized with ease for compact and cold field emission devices,

Fabrication and Simulation of Self-Focusing Field Emission X-ray Tubes

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2015
A self-focusing field emission (FE) X-ray tube with a large-area cathode design was simulated and fabricated. The designed X-ray tube had a cylindrically symmetric geometry; the diameter of the cathode and the anode was 15 mm, and the cathode-anode ...

Research progress in carbon nitride in field emission cold cathode materials

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2022
Carbon nitride has the advantages of excellent thermal stability, high thermal conductivity, larger forbidden band width and negative electron affinity. Therefore, carbon nitride is a promising field emission cathode material. On the basis of introducing

Cold Cathodes with Two-Dimensional van der Waals Materials

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Two-dimensional van der Waals materials could be used as electron emitters alone or stacked in a heterostructure. Many significant phenomena of two-dimensional van der Waals field emitters have been observed and predicted since the landmark discovery of ...

Field- and photon-enhanced field emission from thin-film field-emission devices

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1968
Thin-film sandwich devices of CdS-SiO-metal have been made. They have current/voltage behaviour characteristics of field emission from semiconductors. With reverse bias, the current is very much smaller. The field-emission current is greatly enhanced by illuminating the device with 2.41 and 2.54eV photons (from an argon-ion laser).
