Ultimate terahertz field enhancement of single nanoslits

open access: yes, 2017
A single metallic slit is the simplest plasmonic structure for basic physical understanding of electromagnetic field confinement. By reducing the gap size, the field enhancement is expected to first go up and then go down when the gap width becomes ...

Electric Field Enhancement by Two-scale Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a novel multi-length-scale architecture for giant electric field enhancement. We investigate the capability of our structure to boost the electric field analytically and using fullwave simulations and verify our results with surface-enhanced ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Electric Field Enhancements and Hot Spots in Amorphous Carbon Materials

open access: yesSmall Structures
Amorphous carbon (a‐C) represents a broad and technologically relevant class of carbonaceous materials whose rich morphological diversity, characterized by nanoporosity and defective networks, endows them with unique electrical, chemical, and optical ...

Magnetic field enhancement by cross-field diffusive flow

open access: yes, 2019
Plasma transport by diffusion across magnetic field lines is proposed as a mechanism for magnetic field enhancement. It is shown that anomalous plasma diffusion can induce a substantial amount of magnetic flux under certain circumstances.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Near-field surface plasmon field enhancement induced by rippled surfaces

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2017
The occurrence of plasmon resonances on metallic nanometer-scale structures is an intrinsically nanoscale phenomenon, given that the two resonance conditions (i.e., negative dielectric permittivity and large free-space wavelength in comparison with ...

Modelling of the growth and detachment of a vapour bubble and the effect of a electric field in the nucleate boiling regime

open access: yes, 2006
A comprehensive model predicting the deformation, growth and detachment of a vapour bubble in the nucleate boiling regime with an applied electric field is described in this paper.
