In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Cascade hydropower-induced land use change reshapes sources and ecological risks of soil heavy metals in Wudongde Reservoir resettlement zones

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Cascade hydropower reshapes land use and interactions in reservoir regions, potentially altering soil heavy metal risks. Eight metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, Zn) were quantified in 20 surface soils from the head, middle and tail resettlement zones ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Nanoplasmonic surfaces enabling strong surface-normal electric field enhancement

open access: yes, 2013
Conventional two-dimensional (2D) plasmonic arrays provide electric field intensity enhancement in the plane, typically with a surface coverage around 50% in the plan-view.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

High-density field-based 3D reconstruction of rice architecture across diverse cultivars for genome-wide association studies

open access: yesPlant Methods
Background Rice plant architecture underpins yield and grain quality, yet two obstacles impede accurate field characterization in dense paddies. First, single-plant reconstruction is constrained by severe inter-plant occlusion, cluttered backgrounds, and

Electromagnetic-field-induced cohesive force enhancement in a metallic nanowire

open access: yes, 2004
We theoretically study the conducting electronic contribution to the cohesive force in a metallic nanowire irradiated under a transversely polarized external electromagnetic field at low temperatures and in the ballistic regime.
