Parentage verification in field progeny testing program of Mehsana buffalo1
Journal of Animal Science, 2012The present study was undertaken to construct a multiplex microsatellite panel for parentage testing in Mehsana buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). The study was based on a total of 212 Mehsana buffalos (100 dams, 100 daughters, and 12 sires). Genomic DNA was extracted from blood and semen samples. A panel of 10 microsatellite markers (CSSM61, ILSTS29, ILSTS17,

Artificial autumn freeze testing was used as indication on the level of cold acclimation of one year old fullsib and open‐pollinated plus‐tree progenies from three north Swedish seed orchards of Scots pine. Correlations between progeny freezing damage after initial cold acclimation in various environments were generally as high or higher than ...

The progeny testing of dairy bulls: a comparison of special station and field results
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 19561. A comparison has been made between progeny tests in special stations and those available from field records. The variation between sires in milk yield is much greater at the stations even when they are compared with herds at the same production level.2. In respect of yield the repeatability of station tests in the field is not good.

Field Tests of Progeny from Protoplast Regenerated Oilseed Rape
1988To investigate the “agronomic” consequences of a simple protoplast — plant regeneration cycle, we chose two commercial oilseed rape varieties for evaluation of their products after such a cycle. The regenerated plants were selfed and the resulting seeds were used for field trials.

[Open field testing of the progeny of rats with iodine deficiency].
Georgian medical news, 2006Experimental studies show depressive behavior of rats caused by hypothyroidism and anti-depressive effect of thyroid hormones. The present study analysis changes in emotional state of the progeny of rats suffered from iodine deficiency of different severity before mating and during whole period of gestation.

Some tree improvement programs in Africa use nursery tests to investigate genetic and geographic variation in growth, but do they lead to the same conclusions as field tests? We investigated this question using provenance/progeny tests (12 provenances, 108 families) of Balanites aegyptiaca from semi-arid Niger.

The environmental variance, defined in this study to include all nonfamily variances, associated with family mean estimates for height were compared among six progeny test field designs on three loblolly pine (Pinustaeda L.) progeny test sites in southeastern Oklahoma and southwestern Arkansas.
