3S: A novel program for field spectroscopy

Computers and Geosciences, 2009
The graphic user interface software package spectroscopy at subnanometer spectral resolution is presented in this manuscript. The software permits efficient acquisition of field spectroscopy data and is specifically designed to facilitate the operations to compute the reflectance factor of a given object or surface from standard field spectroscopy ...

Thermal Infrared Near-Field Spectroscopy

Nano Letters, 2012
Despite the seminal contributions of Kirchhoff and Planck describing far-field thermal emission, fundamentally distinct spectral characteristics of the electromagnetic thermal near-field have been predicted. However, due to their evanescent nature their direct experimental characterization has remained elusive.

Spectroscopy in sculpted fields

Nano Today, 2009
Summary Metallic and magnetic nanostructures set electromagnetic boundary conditions which can lead to highly contorted fields in their immediate vicinity. While much attention has been devoted to enhancements in electric field strength, we argue that equally interesting phenomena arise from enhancements in magnetic and electric field gradients ...

Terahertz spectroscopy in the near field

Frontiers in Optics 2007/Laser Science XXIII/Organic Materials and Devices for Displays and Energy Conversion, 2007
We observe a terahertz field enhancement in the junction between a sub-wavelength metal probe tip and a metallic substrate. We exploit this in the first observation of a metal-insulator transition using terahertz near-field techniques.

High-resolution spectroscopy in the field

SPIE Proceedings, 1993
This paper gives an review, with 8 refs., of the activities on IR Fourier Transform Spectroscopy at the TNO-Physics and Electronics Lab. Spectra are shown for aircraft plume emission and transmission through wildfire smoke and missile plume smoke. These examples demonstrate the possibilities of these techniques to identify gases and to det.

Apertureless near‐field Raman spectroscopy

Journal of Microscopy, 2003
SummaryWe report on the tip‐enhanced Raman spectra of C60 obtained on a custom‐built apertureless scanning near‐field optical microscope. A commercial atomic force microscope tip coated with 100 nm thickness of gold was used to enhance locally the Raman signal and permit topographic and spectral information to be acquired simultaneously.

VI Spectroscopy in polychromatic fields

2000
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the spectroscopy in polychromatic fields. The chapter reviews the work performed on spectroscopy with intense polychromatic fields. The chapter focuses on the sub-harmonic resonances and their applications.

Field sweep broadline NMR spectroscopy

Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, 1998
A novel NMR spectrometer is described that is uniquely versatile in its ability to accurately record broad lines by sweeping the superconducting magnetic field and to perform standard high resolution solid state NMR experiments. Broadline observation is illustrated by 27Al spectra from static samples. Such an instrument opens up many nuclei for serious

Spectroscopy with multiple field configurations

Physical Review D, 1991
The effect of field configuration copying on both fermion and fermion-antifermion pair correlation functions is studied in detail in a simple quantum-mechanical model. It is found that, with very few exceptions, the copying procedure results in a large correction to the corresponding effective masses.
