Improved field-weakening control for IFO induction motor

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2003
Generally, good transient response and high conversion efficiency of a field-weakened indirect field-oriented (IFO), induction motor drive are difficult to obtain simultaneously owing to their contradictory behaviors. Moreover, its operating performance is quite sensitive to the flux level, detuned effect, and parameter variations.

Speed control for field-weakened induction motor drive

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2005
The speed control of a field-weakened (FW) indirect field-oriented (IFO) induction motor drive with compensations for system dead-time and parameter variations is presented. Firstly, the DSP-based motor drive with a field-weakening mechanism is designed.

Exact tracking by dynamic field-weakened PMAC servodrive

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2001
In the paper the exact tracking of permanent magnet AC servodrives with dynamic field-weakening is presented. The analytical solution given in the form of a reference dynamic model of the direct axis current and corresponding transition conditions is derived from the inverse motor dynamics.

Operational features (cogging, field weakening)

IEE Seminar on Permanent Magnet Materials-Fundamentals, Design and Application, 2000
Field weakening is used to extend the speed range of motor drives. In wound field DC machines this simply involves reducing the excitation current. In PM motors the excitation is fixed but a reduction in the air-gap field and back EMF can be obtained by adjusting the angle in space between the armature and field MMF patterns.

PMSM Model Predictive Control With Field-Weakening Implementation

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2016
Permanent-magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drives have become popular for motion control applications due to their performance and high torque-to-weight ratio. The complex task of PMSM control in high-performance applications is currently usually resolved with classical vector control.

Field weakening in PMSM model based predictive control

2010 IEEE International Conference on Power and Energy, 2010
Drives based on permanent magnet synchronous machines become more and more popular in many industrial applications. In most application traditional control algorithms are used leading to problems with the drive operation optimization. The paper presents a method of field weakening implementation in model based predictive control scheme.

Field-weakening in high-performance PMSM drives: a comparative analysis

Conference Record of the 2000 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Fifth IAS Annual Meeting and World Conference on Industrial Applications of Electrical Energy (Cat. No.00CH37129), 2002
A comparative analysis of field-weakening (FW) in vector controlled and DTC permanent magnet synchronous motor drives is performed. Following the description of the fundamentals of these drives, the results of simulations and a comprehensive set of experiments are given.

Field weakening optimal control of DC motor drive systems

2013 4th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE), 2013
This paper presents an energy saving control for the field weakening DC drives. The system model is liniarized and optimal control technique is applied, in order to enhance the DC drive efficiency in the high speed dynamical regimes. The proposed solution is tested and experimental results are presented.
