Taxonomic investigation of Abrothallus (Abrothallales, Ascomycota) species associated with lichen genera Ramalina and Bryoria, including the description of a new species

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 2, February 2026.
The obligately lichenicolous genus Abrothallus consists of approximately 50 species, almost all of which are associated with lichens having foliose, fruticose, or pendulous thalli. This paper focuses on species that grow on strap lichens (Ramalina) providing new insights into their phylogenetic relationships and distribution.

Diversity of FAAL enzymes and prediction of their substrate specificity using FAALPred

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract FAALs (fatty acyl‐AMP ligases) recruit and incorporate fatty acids during the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Their diversity, distribution, and substrate specificity remain poorly understood, which limits functional predictions from sequence data.

Digital hamartoma resulting in a gait abnormality in a dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract A 9‐year‐old Brussels Griffon presented for assessment of a pendulous mass on the dorsal aspect of the third digit of the left hindlimb, following prior trauma to the area during a grooming visit. The primary veterinarian performed a fine needle aspirate of the mass, which revealed a mixed population of inflammatory cells. At presentation, the

Filamentous Fungi Extracellular Vesicles

2021
Since the first description of extracellular vesicles in a filamentous fungus, Alternaria infectoria, data has been gathered showing the importance of EVs in the interaction of filamentous fungi with the environment and with the animal and plant hosts. In Aspergillus spp.

Proteomics of filamentous fungi

Trends in Biotechnology, 2007
Proteomic analysis, defined here as the global assessment of cellular proteins expressed in a particular biological state, is a powerful tool that can provide a systematic understanding of events at the molecular level. Proteomic studies of filamentous fungi have only recently begun to appear in the literature, despite the prevalence of these organisms
