Experimental and Numerical Modal Analysis of Composite Sandwich Structures Using Surfboards as Model Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

CartoSR: An attention-enhanced deep GANs for single map super resolution reconstruction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation
Maps are fundamental media for people to comprehend the spatial and temporal dimensions of a place. Currently, the majority of maps are generated through volunteered efforts, which significantly extends the critical and participatory aspects of ...

Archiving Digital Photos and Files at the Sonobudoyo Museum as a Reconstruction

open access: yesSymbolon, 2023
Archiving historical photographic works in museums is not easy because an archiving staff does not only archive photos but also has to take care of, examine photo data, and present them to the public so that they become archives that are worth showing off.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Regularizing Inverse Preconditioners for Symmetric Band Toeplitz Matrices

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
Image restoration is a widely studied discrete ill-posed problem. Among the many regularization methods used for treating the problem, iterative methods have been shown to be effective.

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Are the Wavelet Transforms the Best Filter Banks for Image Compression?

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2008
Maximum regular wavelet filter banks have received much attention in the literature, and it is a general conception that they enjoy some type of optimality for image coding purposes.
