Numerical modelling of geosynthetic reinforced fills over voids [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Voids may form under thin fills and embankments due to karstic terrain, mining operations, permafrost thawing, pipe failure or local subsidence at the surface of a landfill closure.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Clinical Evaluation of Nanohybrid Organically Modified Ceramic and Nanohybrid Conventional Bulk-fill Resin Composite in Proximal Compound Posterior Restorations: Randomized Clinical Study [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry
Purpose: This study compared the clinical efficacy of nanohybrid organically modified ceramic (ORMOCER) bulk-fill resin composite vs nanohybrid conventional bulk-fill resin composite in proximal compound posterior restorations.

Optimal Error Correcting Delivery Scheme for Coded Caching with Symmetric Batch Prefetching

open access: yes, 2017
Coded caching is used to reduce network congestion during peak hours. A single server is connected to a set of users through a bottleneck link, which generally is assumed to be error-free.

Queue utilization with hop based enhanced arbitrary inter frame spacing MAC for saturated ad HOC networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 IEEE. Path length of a multi hop Ad Hoc networks has an adverse impact on the end-to-end throughput especially during network saturation. The success rate of forwarding packets towards destination is limited due to interference, contention ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Thermodynamic modeling of the no-vent fill methodology for transferring cryogens in low gravity [PDF]

open access: yes
The filling of tanks with cryogens in the low-gravity environment of space poses many technical challenges. Chief among these is the inability to vent only vapor from the tank as the filling proceeds.

Can the turbulent galactic dynamo generate large-scale magnetic fields?

open access: yes, 1997
Large-scale magnetic fields in galaxies are thought to be generated by a turbulent dynamo. However the same turbulence also leads to a small-scale dynamo which generates magnetic noise at a more rapid rate.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

A comparison between the order and the volume fill rates for a base-stock inventory control system under a compound renewal demand process [PDF]

open access: yes
The order fill rate is less commonly used than the volume fill rate (most often just denoted fill rate) as a performance measure for inventory control systems.
