Requirements and Evaluation of Commercial Digital Light Processing 3D Printers for Upscaled Production of Microstructured Tissue Culture Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Commercial light‐based 3D printers increasingly find use for industry‐scale production of microstructured tissue culture devices. How can commercial printer performance be assessed for a given application? This work introduces simplified quantitative metrics based on microstructural fidelity analysis, addressing key manufacturing challenges in scaling ...

Fabrication, characterisation and dielectric properties of KH550 modified BST/PVDF nanocomposites with high dielectric strength

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2016
Ba(0.6)Sr(0.4)TiO(3) (BST)/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) 0–3 nanocomposites with BST nanoparticle contents of 10–40 vol% were prepared by tape casting method. The BST nanoparticles with ∼60 nm crystal size and accurate atomic ratio were synthesised by

Thermal Conductivity of Nanoparticles Filled Polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thermal conductivity of polymers is an important thermal property for both polymer applications and processing. Polymers typically have intrinsic thermal conductivity much lower than those for metals or ceramic materials, and therefore are good thermal insulators.

Ground-States of Two Directed Polymers

open access: yes, 2000
Joint ground states of two directed polymers in a random medium are investigated. Using exact min-cost flow optimization the true two-line ground-state is compared with the single line ground state plus its first excited state. It is found that these two-

Micromechanical Insights into Sinter‐Based Additively Manufactured NiTi with Nb as a Sintering Aid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the microstructural and micromechanical behavior of NiTiNb made through filament‐based materials extrusion via chemically correlated nanoindentation. B19' remnants from the original powder lead to Nb gradients within NiTiNb grains due to the short sintering times required in liquid‐phase sintering.

Microcellular Poly (Ethylene‐Co‐Vinyl Acetate)/Lignin Nanocomposites for Soft Ferroelectrets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Lignin valorization for advanced porous polymer nanocomposites development and an upscaling route for continuous manufacturing of soft ferroelectrets for energy harvesting are studied. This work examines the role of lignin and carbon nanotubes (CNT) in modifying the mechanical, dielectric, and ferroelectret properties of poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate)

Impact of Structural Adhesive Hybridization Strategy on the Performance of In‐Mold Electronics Devices Across Thermoforming and Injection Molding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In‐mold electronics (IME) undergo complex thermoforming and over‐molding processes that strain device integrity. This study demonstrates how adapting the amount and placement of structural adhesive to local deformation levels preserves electrical functionality.

Electro-optic polymers for high speed modulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Different electro-optic polymer systems are analyzed with respect to their electro-optic activity, glass transition temperature (Tg) and photodefinable properties. The polymers tested are polysulfone (PS) and polycarbonate (PC).

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...
