Electrokinetic Lattice Boltzmann solver coupled to Molecular Dynamics: application to polymer translocation

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a theoretical and computational approach to deal with systems that involve a disparate range of spatio-temporal scales, such as those comprised of colloidal particles or polymers moving in a fluidic molecular environment. Our approach is based

Multiscale Modeling of Process‐Induced Defects in Fused Filament Fabrication‐Printed Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a predictive multiscale modeling tool for defect analysis of fused filament fabricated‐printed materials and their performance prediction using a mechanistic data science‐based reduced‐order modeling approach. Process‐induced defects are inherent to additively manufactured parts and significantly influence the performance of printed

State of the art of plastic sorting and recycling : Feedback to vehicle design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Today car manufacturers are beginning to integrate recycling constraints in the first stages of the design of a new car due to their concern regarding the effects of car design on the recovery of material after End-of-Life Vehicle treatment.

Graphene–Catechol Dental Sealant: Antibacterial and Mechanical Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents dental sealants made with graphene and L‐DOPA‐modified graphene. L‐DOPA enhances graphene dispersion, improving sealant properties. The material shows antibacterial activity against S. mutans and L. casei, along with high strength and elasticity.

Application of nanoparticles and composite materials for energy generation and storage

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2019
Transition to renewable and sustainable energy from fossil fuels (natural gas, coal, and oil) has dominated the research cycle. The shift is as a result of increasing population growth, industrialisation, decreasing oil reserves and hazardous ...

Simulation of nanodielectrics: nanoparticle and interphase effects on electric field distributions

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2020
Nanodielectrics have been regarded as a class of material system that can provide significantly improved chemical, mechanical and dielectric properties over conventional microcomposites.

DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF A FILLED POLYMER

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1988
The material under study consists of a polyurethane matrix containing KC1 and Mg2SiO4 particles. Different types of damage were show as a result of the following experiments : hydrostatic compression, quasi static and dynamic uniaxial compressions, triaxial compression and dynamic uniaxial strain.

Nonlinear optical response in doped conjugated polymers

open access: yes, 1995
Exciton effects on conjugated polymers are investigated in soliton lattice states. We use the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with long-range Coulomb interactions.

Synthesis and properties of a new AB-cross-linked copolymer membrane system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The alcohol permeability and permselectivity properties as well as the morphology of membranes made of a newly developed AB-cross-linked copolymer system composed of elastomeric and glassy components were investigated.

Vacuum‐Formed Composites Based on a Polyolefin and a High Content of Biomass‐Waste Fillers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown here that by the use of a very ductile polymer matrix, it is possible to vacuum‐form products that contain up to 25% of hard biofillers with still ductile properties. The results are promising and opens up for the use of engineered biocomposites derived from industrial side‐stream biofillers in vacuum‐formed products. A strategy to increase
