Film cooling on a convex wall: Heat transfer and hydrodynamic measurements for full and partial coverage [PDF]

open access: yes
Turbine-blade cooling is an important issue for high-efficiency turbine engines, and discrete-hole injection is widely used as a cooling method. In the present study, detailed measurements were made of the heat transfer and hydrodynamics of a film-cooled

Melt Grafting of Geometry‐Tailored Voltage Stabilizers for High‐Performance Polypropylene Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step melt grafting strategy is developed to enhance the dielectric properties of isotactic polypropylene by covalently incorporating thermally stable aromatic voltage stabilizers. This solvent‐free approach improves volume resistivity and DC breakdown strength through deep trap formation and charge localization, offering a sustainable ...

SİLİNDİRİK ENJEKSİYON DELİKLERİNDE FİLM SOĞUTMA İNCELEMESİ

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi, 2006
This paper deals with experimental and numerical investigation of the film cooling effectiveness on a flat plate. Eleven injection holes on the model are in a single row. The holes have cylindrical cross section and they are 8.5 mm diameters.

Interconnected Porous Hydrogels with Tunable Anisotropy Through Aqueous Emulsion Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bioprintable microporous bioink is developed using an aqueous two‐phase system (ATPS) composed of extracellular matrix (ECM) mimetic biopolymers. The ATPS bioink enables the fabrication of interconnected porous architectures with up to 70% porosity, supporting long‐term cell viability and 3D cell alignment, enabling a simultaneous generation of ...

Flow visualization of discrete hole film cooling for gas turbine applications [PDF]

open access: yes
Film injection from discrete holes in a three row staggered array with 5-diameter spacing is studied. The boundary layer thickness-to-hole diameter ratio and Reynolds number are typical of gas turbine film cooling applications.

Pore Size Effects of Mesoporous N‐Doped Carbon Nanospheres as Advanced Support Material on the Activity of Molybdenum Sulfide Catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By tuning the pore size of mesoporous N‐doped carbon (MPNC) nanospheres as support material for molybdenum sulfide, the electrochemical activity of the composite material for the hydrogen evolution reaction can be optimized. An ideal MPNC pore size of 60 nm allows a high number of molybdenum sulfide active sites while maintaining efficient proton and ...

Flow visualization of discrete-hole film cooling with spanwise injection over a cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes
Insight into the fluid mechanics encountered when film air from a single row of holes is injected over a cylinder in a mainstream at conditions simulating a film cooled, turbulent-vane leading edge was investigated.

Robust and Reversible Thermofluorescence in Solvent‐Free Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermofluorescent polymer composites with high‐contrast optical outputs are prepared by solvent‐free blending of indenoquinacridone dye into a thermoplastic polyurethane matrix. The temperature‐dependent fluorescence originates from aggregation–dissociation of the dye molecules, regulated by competing hydrogen bonds from the polymer matrix.

Analysis of metal temperature and coolant flow with a thermal-barrier coating on a full-coverage-film-cooled turbine vane [PDF]

open access: yes
The potential benefits of combining full-coverage film cooling with a thermal-barrier coating were investigated analytically for sections on the suction and pressure sides a high-temperature, high-pressure turbine vane.
