Eigencolor radiochromic film dosimetry

Medical Physics, 2021
PurposeThe goal of this work is to propose a new multichannel method correcting for systematic thickness disturbances and to evaluate its precision in relevant radiation dosimetry applications.MethodsThe eigencolor ratio technique is introduced and theoretically developed to provide a method correcting for thickness disturbances.

Use of a control film piece in radiochromic film dosimetry

Physica Medica, 2016
Radiochromic films change their color upon irradiation due to polymerization of the sensitive component embedded within the sensitive layer. However, agents, other than monitored radiation, can lead to a change in the color of the sensitive layer (temperature, humidity, UV light) that can be considered as a background signal and can be removed from the

On the re-calibration process in radiochromic film dosimetry

Physica Medica, 2017
The accuracy and precision of the dose estimates obtained with radiochromic film dosimetry are investigated in a clinical environment. The improvement in the accuracy of dose estimates reached with corrective methods is analyzed. Two novel re-calibration algorithms for radiochromic film dosimetry are presented. Two different EBT3 lots are evaluated in ...

A simple technique for film dosimetry

Radiotherapy and Oncology, 1992
Dose distributions showing the effect of custom made compensators may be produced using measured data unique to the compensator. A fast method of obtaining this data with film is described. The problem of dose versus density response is avoided by an appropriate choice of the given dose to the film.

A Comparison of TLD and Film for Personnel Dosimetry

Health Physics, 1966
Abstract The film badge is today the most widely used personnel monitoring device for want of a more reliable and accurate system. Recent evaluations of the performance of the available commercial film badge services report a wide variation in both the accuracy and consistency of the reported exposures.

Film dosimetry of clinical electron beams

Medical Dosimetry, 1990
Film dosimetry is used widely to obtain relative dose distributions of clinical electron beams in phantoms. Nevertheless, measurement results obtained with film dosimetry may lack precision and reliability. In this paper well defined and reproducible methods in film dosimetry are discussed.
