This master’s thesis investigates the phenomenon of acousmatic sound in light of its role in fictional films as a means of perceptual manipulation. It provides insight into the innovative ways in which sound that is detached from its visual source can have an impact on perception, and which consequences this has in respect to cognitive processes.
