Catalytic Reduction of Hexavalent Chromium Using Iron/Palladium Bimetallic Nanoparticle-Assembled Filter Paper

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Iron/palladium bimetallic nanoparticles (Fe/Pd NPs) are important catalytic materials for the field of environmental remediation. In the present study, filter paper was employed as a substrate for the assembly of Fe/Pd NPs and further applied for the ...

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

The impact of hematocrit, punch location, and cellular interference on neonatal screening for biotinidase deficiency

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics
Background. Biotinidase deficiency is a core condition in newborn screening programs worldwide. While fluorometric enzyme activity assays from dried blood spots (DBS) are the standard first-tier test, their accuracy can be susceptible to pre-analytical ...

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...
