A calibration of the filter-paper method of estimation of smoke
British Journal of Applied Physics, 1963During a period of high pollution in December 1962 smoke samples were taken on Whatman cellulose fibre paper and on glass fibre paper, and the weight collected on the latter was used to derive a calibration curve for the standard filter-paper method of estimation of smoke.

Rapid, efficient method for multiplex amplification from filter paper
Human Mutation, 1998Guthrie cards derived from the New York State Newborn Screening Program were utilized to develop a rapid, economical method for amplifying multiple genes to detect mutations that impact public health. These specimens are untraceable to the donor because identifiers are removed and discarded; therefore, these pilot studies were carried out anonymously ...

A filter-paper method for determining the moisture characteristics of soil
Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, 1967A simple filter paper method for estimating a wide range of moisture potentials has been tested for fifteen soils ranging in texture from sands to heavy clays. The method has given estimates of moisture potential from -0.1 to -900 bars with an accuracy that should be acceptable for many types of field experimentation.

A Method for Large-scale Separation of Amino-acids on Filter Paper
Nature, 1950FOR quantitative determinations of amino-acids separated on filter paper, it is often desirable that the spots should contain a larger quantity of substance than is as a rule possible to achieve with unaffected resolution. A one-dimensional technique in which the substance to be analysed is applied along a line across the paper has been described by ...

A Screening Method for Adrenoleukodystrophy Using a Dried Blood Spot on Filter Paper
Pediatrics International, 1987AbstractThe authors have devised a new, simple method for the diagnosis of adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) using a dried blood spot sample. Fatty acid from the dried blood spot was extracted and methylated with HCl‐methanol. Fatty acid methyl esters were analyzed by gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry.

A method for lactate and pyruvate determination in filter-paper dried blood spots
Journal of Chromatography A, 2009Lactic acidemia is commonly associated with severe diseases in pediatric patients. Quantitation of blood lactate and pyruvate is important for the diagnosis and clinical management. A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method using dried blood spots (DBS) was developed and could be used for simultaneous quantification of blood ...

Simplified Method for G6PD Screening Using Blood Collected on Filter Paper
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1974A rapid screening method for detecting glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is described. The method involves the collection of blood samples on filter paper and depends on the fluorescence of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.

Factors Affecting the Filter Paper Method for Total and Matric Suction Measurements
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2002Abstract The filter paper method is used as an indirect means of measuring soil suctions. The advantages of the method include its simplicity, its low cost, and its ability to measure a wide range of suctions. The filter paper method has also been used in the field to measure soil suctions.
