Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Filter Bubble [PDF]

open access: yesInternet Policy Review, 2019
Introduced by tech entrepreneur and activist Eli Pariser in 2011, the ‘filter bubble’ is a persistent concept which suggests that search engines and social media, together with their recommendation and personalisation algorithms, are centrally culpable for the societal and ideological polarisation experienced in many countries: we no longer encounter a

Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

The Problem of Spurious Emissions in 5G FR2 Phased Arrays, and a Solution Based on an Upmixer With Embedded LO Leakage Cancellation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Solid-State Circuits Society
The wireless spectrum is a shared resource. Transmitters are expected to transmit only at their allotted frequency range and not at other frequencies. Transmitters are not perfect, and therefore, there are regulations that limit the transmitted energy ...

Quasi-Real Scenario of Reconfigurable Filtering Functions Antenna for UWB Communications

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2018
In this paper, an Ultra Wide Band antenna with reconfigurable filtering-characteristic is proposed to overcome interferences problems in the frequency range 3.1 GHz–10.7 GHz. With dimensions of 35 x 35 mm2, the structure is simple, low–cost and possesses

Unbiased population heterozygosity estimates from genome‐wide sequence data

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, 2021
Heterozygosity is a metric of genetic variability frequently used to inform the management of threatened taxa. Estimating observed and expected heterozygosities from genome‐wide sequence data has become increasingly common, and these estimates are often ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A full-scale simulator for research of navigation and filtering algorithms of a strapdown inertial navigation system using the Matlab-Simulink environment

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА
Due to the increasing complexity of aircraft navigation equipment and the growing demands placed on them, there is a need to study and improve existing navigation and filtering algorithms by solving problems of developing full-scale research simulators ...
