Nonpenetrating filtering surgery

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2002
Trabeculectomy is currently the standard filtration procedure for surgical treatment of glaucoma. This technique has advantages over full thickness procedures but can cause early postoperative complications such as hyphema, shallow or flat anterior chamber, hypotony with the risk of choroidal detachment, and maculopathy.

Late Endophthalmitis after Filtering Surgery

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1971
The variety of types of underlying glau coma present in our series of 11 cases is shown in Table 1. Seven had had thermal sclerectomies performed by alternately in cising sharply and cauterizing the limbal wound until a fistula is made into the ante rior chamber. Three patients had posterior lip sclerectomies performed with a Holth punch.

Surgery of the Filtering Bleb

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1962
Documentation for techniques of surgical manipulation of a filtering bleb is meager in ophthalmological literature. Of particular interest in this matter is: (1) the management of loss of the filtering bleb after external filtering surgery for glaucoma, (2) management of external fistulization of a filtering bleb, (3) treatment of extension of a ...

Valve Implants in Filtering Surgery

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1976
A valve implant for glaucoma incorporated upper and lower intraocular pressure limits for outflow. The device consisted of an open Supramid tube sealed to a Silastic tube with a slit valve. The valve implants had opening pressures of 11 to 16 mm Hg and closing pressures 1 to 3 mm Hg lower.

Suprachoroidal Hemorrhage After Glaucoma Filtering Surgery

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1987
We reviewed a series of 305 consecutive glaucoma filtering procedures performed by one surgeon. Five eyes (1.6%) had a postoperative suprachoroidal hemorrhage. All five eyes were aphakic, and four had undergone a partial or complete vitrectomy before the glaucoma surgery.

New Lid Speculum for Glaucoma Filtering Surgery

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1994
ABSTRACT Successful bleb formation in glaucoma filtering surgery depends on adequate intraoperative visualization and atraumatic handling and preservation of normal conjunctiva and Tenon's capsule in order to avoid unnecessary stimulation and fibrous tissue formation. With these requirements in mind, we designed a new lid speculum that offers

Utility of insufflation filters in laparoscopic surgery

Surgical Endoscopy, 1998
To determine whether filters, regularly used as part of the insufflator tubing during laparoscopic surgery, trap microbial and particulate matter from CO2 tanks, thus preventing passage from one patient to another.A total of 67 used filters were collected from 17 CO2 tanks and six insufflation machines at three local hospitals, and sterile unused ...

Aqueous Humor Changes After Experimental Filtering Surgery

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1980
We studied aqueous humor of rhesus and owl monkeys for its effect on the growth of subconjunctival fibroblasts in tissue culture. Aqueous humor samples obtained before glaucoma surgery inhibited the initiation of growth of fibroblasts. However, postoperative aqueous humor samples supported growth of fibroblasts.
