Neural filters: a class of filters unifying FIR and median filters

[Proceedings] ICASSP-92: 1992 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1992
A new class of nonlinear filters called neural filters based on the threshold decomposition and neural networks is introduced. Neural filters can approximate both linear finite impulse response (FIR) filters and weighted order statistic (WOS) filters which include median, rank order, and weighted median filters.

Narrowband filtering with frequency sampling filters

ICASSP '81. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
A reduction on the number of multiplies per point is achieved for narrowband filtering when frequency sampling filters are used. Agarwal and Cooley [4] tabulated some optimal block size segments of long sequences when convolving them with a short sequence by FFT methods. In this paper we describe how, by using block lengths of twice the filter's length

Recursive Filtering*

Statistica Neerlandica, 1978
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to give an exposition of the theory behind the Kalman filter and its application to the so‐called LQG‐problem. This problem is concerned with the stochastic optimal control of a linear system with respect to a quadratic cost in the presence Gaussian disturbances.

Monte Carlo filter particle filter

2015 European Control Conference (ECC), 2015
We propose a new realization method of the sequential importance sampling (SIS) algorithm to derive a new particle filter. The new filter constructs the importance distribution by the Monte Carlo filter (MCF) using sub-particles, therefore, its non-Gaussianity nature can be adequately considered while the other type of particle filter such as unscented

Designs of fractional delay filter, Nyquist filter, lowpass filter and diamond-shaped filter

Signal Processing, 2007
In this paper, the designs of fractional delay filter, Nyquist filter, lowpass filter and diamond-shaped filter are presented. First, the relation between Nyquist filter and fractional delay filter is investigated such that the design tools of one filter can be applied to design the other filter.

Fuzzy filters for noisy image filtering

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
In this paper, seven fuzzy filters for noise reduction in images are introduced. Each of these fuzzy filters applies a weighted membership function to an image within a window to determine the center pixel, and is easy and fast to implement. Simulation results on the filtering performance of these seven fuzzy filters, the standard median filter (MED ...

Improved filters for angular filter refractometry

Review of Scientific Instruments
Angular filter refractometry is an optical diagnostic that measures the absolute contours of a line-integrated density gradient by placing a filter with alternating opaque and transparent zones in the focal plane of a probe beam, which produce corresponding alternating light and dark regions in the image plane.

PFBF: Pre-Filtered Bloom Filters

2015
In this paper we focus on improving the false positive rate of a bloom filter with a pre-filtering scheme. By applying this scheme on a bloom filter, we can quickly screen out lots of input before entering the bloom filter and hence improve the result of false positives.

Gaussian filter for nonlinear filtering problems

Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.00CH37187), 2002
We develop and analyze real-time and accurate filters for nonlinear filtering problems based on the Gaussian distributions. We present the systematic formulation of Gaussian filters and develop efficient and accurate numerical integration of the proposed filter.
