Inline-filtration

Transfusion and Apheresis Science, 2002
Routine leukocyte-depletion (LD) of cellular blood products, and even plasma, is currently being implemented in most European countries, as a result of the fear that the variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob-disease (vCJD) might be transmissible by transfusion.

Types of Filtration

2006
There are a multitude of filter designs and mechanisms utilized within the biopharmaceutical industry. Prefilters are commonly pleated or wound filter fleeces manufactured from melt-blown random fiber matrices. These filters are used to remove a high contaminant content within the fluid.

Bank Filtration as Natural Filtration

2011
When wells are placed close to a surface water source (such as a lake or a river) and pumped, a portion of the surface water is induced to flow to the well. As the water travels from the river to the well through the riverbed sediments and underlying aquifer material, suspended and dissolved contaminants of surface water are “naturally” filtered out ...

Effects of periodic backflushing with filtrate on filtration performance in an internal-filtration bioreactor

Bioprocess Engineering, 1997
Periodic backflushing of tubular ceramic membrane filters with filtrate was employed to alleviate membrane fouling in a bioreactor with internal-filtration. As the model system, yeast fermentation was dealt with in this study. There existed optimum backflushing interval and time to give a maximum flux recovery.
