Listing and financial constraints [PDF]

open access: yesJapan and the World Economy, 2019
Abstract We confirm, with a twist, that listing to a stock exchange can mitigate financial constraints of firms, using Japanese firm-level data of 20 years, 1995–2014, controlling for the main-bank relationship and majority owner influence. Compared to a similar unlisted firm, a listed firm has a lower marginal product of capital on average and more ...

Financial Development and Investment-Cash Flow Sensitivity

open access: yesEast Asian Economic Review, 2007
Using firm-level data from thirty-five countries around the world, this paper empirically examines whether investment-cash flow sensitivity reflects financial constraints.

Poverty as a Catalyst for Cybercrime: Evidence from Agona Swedru, Ghana [PDF]

open access: yesE-Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences
Despite numerous efforts by stakeholders and institutions to mitigate social inequality and cybercrime globally, “these issues persist, particularly in developing countries like Ghana, where cybercrime has become a primary pursuit for many young people ...

The Effect of Mispricing on Investment and Capital Structure of Financial Constraints Firms [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات مالی, 2014
The objective of this study is to examine the effect of mispricing on firm’s investment behavior and capital structure. It also tests the role of the level of financial constraints in the relationship between mispricing , investment and capital structure.

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐
