Robot‐Assisted Automated Serial‐Sectioning and Imaging for 3D Microstructural Investigations

A fully automated 3D microstructure characterization platform provides new insights into materials. This robot‐assisted system performs serial‐sectioning, etching, and optical imaging to generate large‐volume 3D reconstructions with submicron resolution.

This dissertation is composed of three Essays in Finance. In the first chapter, I study heterogeneity in demand elasticities as a source of risk in asset pricing. I use high-frequency product price and quantity data from Amazon to overcome the classical endogeneity challenge and estimate demand elasticities for a large cross-section of firms.

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness.
