β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Homeless Veterans: VA Should Improve Reporting on the Benefits Provided by Leases of Unneeded Property [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
[Excerpt] Federal real property is on GAO’s high risk list partly because some agencies, like VA, have large amounts of underutilized or vacant space.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

The Effect of Lease Accounting on Credit Rating and Cost of Debt: Evidence from Firms in Korea

open access: yesSocial Sciences, 2018
This study examines the effect of capital lease and operating lease options in accounting on credit ratings and the cost of debt using data for 13 years (2001 to 2013) on 6133 listed and unlisted domestic firms in Korea that recognize leases on financial

Wavelength‐Dependent Differential Amplification of Raman Scattering by Chiral Gold Nanorods for Multiplexed Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The SERS spectra of reporter molecules adsorbed on chiral gold nanorods depends on the handedness of circularly polarized light (CPL‐SERS). The bisignate plasmonic CD spectra of chiral nanorods provides wavelength‐dependent CPL‐SERS. Selective discrimination of chiral nanorod handedness and different Raman reporters allow highly sensitive codification ...

IFRS 16 and its Impacts on Aviation Industry

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2019
Current differences between the accounting models for a financial and an operating lease and their critics from the users of the financial statement forced the IASB issued a new Leases Standard, IFRS 16, which supersedes IAS 17 Leases and its related ...

Is the Re-exposure Draft: Leases the Right Way to Fulfill the IASB and FASB Goals in this Area? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Purpose of the article: The issue of leases includes the controversial areas in the IFRS and US GAAP convergence efforts. Especially the current principles applied to the recording and reporting of operating lease with a relatively longer period of lease

Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

The Impact of Lease Capitalisation on Financial Statements and Key Ratios: Evidence from Australia

open access: yes, 2015
The IASB/FASB exposure draft ED 2013 on lease accounting, if introduced as a standard, will fundamentally change the way that leases are accounted for and reported in financial statements. This paper seeks to provide information on the proposed new lease

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.
