Fine-needle biopsy of parathyroid adenomas [PDF]
High-resolution real-time sonography was performed in 15 cases of clinically and chemically suspected primary hyperparathyroidism and in 20 patients with different thyroid nodules. The suspected enlarged parathyroid glands and the thyroid nodules were percutaneously punctured under sonographic control.

The experience of the use of the TRC‐Mammotest machine for stereotactic fine needle biopsy (SFNB) of the breast in Perth is presented. During the period 20 October 1988 to 10 January 1990, 404 SFNB were performed on 389 women with impalpable, mammographically detected lesions of the breast.

Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, 2001The routine use of thyroid FNAB caused profound changes in the management of thyroid nodules. FNAB allows a prompt identification and treatment of thyroid malignancies and avoids unnecessary surgery in patients with benign lesions, improving quality of life in patients with thyroid nodules.

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1979AbstractCritical analysis is provided by the authors on cytologic examination combined with histology of 131 patients with thyroid alterations. Cytologic examination yielded seven false‐negative and four false‐positive findings. Sensitivity of the procedure was 0.78 and the specificity 0.97.
