Substitution potential of plastic fine aggregate in concrete for sustainable production

Structures, 2022
Abstract This study evaluates the mechanical and durability characteristics of eco-friendly concrete incorporating electronic plastic waste (EPW) as partial replacement of fine aggregate. This strategy not only reduces the adverse impacts of EPW on the natural environment but also prevents the depletion of natural resources due to excessive quarrying.

Viability of Asphalt Mixtures with Iron Ore Tailings as a Partial Substitute for Fine Aggregate

Transportation Research Record, 2023
Dark colors aggravate the absorption and accumulation of heat in urban centers in the layers of asphalt coating. These problems can be minimized by incorporating materials that increase the albedo on these pavements.

Utilization of cold bonded fly ash lightweight fine aggregates as a partial substitution of natural fine aggregate in self-compacting mortars

Construction and Building Materials, 2015
Abstract In this study, lightweight fly ash fine aggregates (LWFAs) were used as a partial replacement of natural fine aggregate to investigate the fresh and hardened states of self-compacting mortars (SCMs). For this, a powder mixture of 90% fly ash (FA) and 10% Portland cement (PC) by weight were pelletized in a tilted pan through a cold-bonded ...

Evaluation of durability of concrete substituted heavyweight waste glass as fine aggregate

Construction and Building Materials, 2018
Abstract Concrete is the most widely used construction material, and huge amounts of natural resources are required to manufacture it. With relatively recent rapid industrial development as well as the improvement of people’s living standards, the volume of domestic and industrial waste is increasing, and much of this waste is not recycled.

Effect of PCB as partial replacement of fine aggregate and coarse aggregate in concrete

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Concrete, being a universal building material it is used as a medium to dispose of industrial by-products and waste materials in it. This may improves certain characteristics when its used as filler material or binder. This action also reduce the harmful
