The technological uniqueness paradox

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research summary We establish a new paradox surrounding technological uniqueness, defined as the degree to which a firm's patented technology portfolio differs from its competitors. On the one hand, technological uniqueness acts as a barrier to incoming technology spillovers and impedes firm performance.

A Facile Platform for One‐Step Generation of Uniform Microdroplets through Dehydration‐Driven Phase Separation in Microfluidics

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel droplet generation method that exploits the intrinsic water absorption of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microchannels. A homogeneous polyethylene glycol/dextran mixture is gradually dehydrated, leading to phase separation and the formation of uniform DEX‐rich droplets.

Benchmarking Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed Elastomeric Microstructures

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A nanoindentation protocol for three‐dimensional (3D) printed elastomeric microstructures is developed, optimized, and benchmarked to address tip‐sample adhesion and substrate artifacts. Elastic modulus measurements are shown to be strongly influenced by sample geometry, test parameters, indenter tip shape, and analysis models.
