Abstract Dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA) has emerged as a valuable method for investigating the feeding ecology of vertebrates. Over the past decade, three‐dimensional topographic data from microscopic regions of tooth surfaces have been collected, and surface texture parameters have been published for both extant and fossil species.

Salinity effects on soil shrinkage characteristic curves of fine-grained geomaterials
Fine-grained clayey soils are prone to substantial volume changes during desiccation in response to the dynamics of their moisture regime, and are of critical importance in several geotechnical and geo- environmental engineering applications.

ABSTRACT Burial mounds are key elements of Mediterranean funerary landscapes, but in intensively cultivated coastal plains their low‐relief expression is easily obscured by ploughing, levelling and rapidly changing surface conditions, making single‐date observations unreliable.

Auger Bit for Frozen Fine-Grained Soil [PDF]
Abstract : Auger bits 6.5 in. (165 mm) and 9.5 in. (241 mm) in diameter were modified to satisfy military and general engineering requirements for producing holes in frozen soil. A commercial bit was selected since it appeared to need only minor modification.

A NEW APPROACH FOR PARTICLE SIZE CHARACTERIZATION OF SOIL BASED ON DYNAMIC IMAGE ANALYSIS (DIA)
Particle size distribution (PSD) affects soil behaviour and plays a main role in geotechnical engineering. In site investigations of large engineering structures, in earthquakes and liquefaction research and before filter material selection, it is ...
