Impact of Diesel Engine Exhaust Gases on Environmental Pollution and Human Health

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2004
Fine particles that can be found in the exhaust gases of dieselengines and have a diameter of 2. 5 !Jl1l and ultra-fine particlesof 0.1 !Jl1l in diameter are mainly products of the combustionprocess.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Individual aerosol particles from biomass burning in southern Africa: 1. Compositions and size distributions of carbonaceous particles

open access: yes, 2003
Individual aerosol particles in smoke plumes from biomass fires and in regional hazes in southern Africa were studied using analytical transmission electron microscopy ( TEM), which allowed detailed characterization of carbonaceous particle types in ...

Measurement of spatial and temporal fine sediment dynamics in a small river [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Empirical measurements on fine sediment dynamics and fine sediment infiltration and accumulation have been conducted worldwide, but it is difficult to compare the results because the applied methods differ widely.

Measurement of Thicknesses of Fine Particles [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1952
A METHOD for measuring thicknesses of particles in the sub-sieve range has been devised. Measurements are made using the Vickers projection microscope. The apparatus required is an attachment to the sub-stage condenser which replaces its front lens; it consists mainly of a quartz spherical lens, which is allowed to make contact with a microscope slide ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

The physical properties of magnetic inks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The magnetic particle inspection (MPI) method is a widely used non destructive testing (NDT) technique for ferrous structures. Magnetic inks used in MPI are suspensions of fine ferro/ferrimagnetic particles which, when applied to a magnetized test ...

Study on the influence of fine particle spatial distribution on the undrained shear properties of coral sand from reef island

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
Coral sand is a crucial geotechnical material for the construction of islands and reefs in the South China Sea. In many reclamation areas, the particle size distribution of coral sand spans a wide range, encompassing sizes from sand particles to fine ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
