On the fine structure of polyribosomes

Cell and Tissue Research, 1977
The ultrastructural morphology of ribosomes was studied in tissue sections of rat uterus using defferent fixatives (acrolein formaldehyde, acetic acid, methanol-acetic acid, OsO4) after various pre-incubations in solutions of different osmolarity, electrolyte content, and pH.

Fine structure of myomedulloblastoma

Acta Neuropathologica, 1977
Electronmicroscopic studies in a case of myomedulloblastoma support the concept that the medulloblastoma and the myoblastoma component of the tumor derive drom different cell lines. The myoblastoma component shows bundles of myogenic elements, whereby quite undifferentiated cells lacking myofilaments are tightly attached to differentiated elements ...

Fine Structure of Keratin

Nature, 1964
PREVIOUSLY, investigations of sectioned material have provided extremely valuable information regarding the ultrafine structure of keratin1,2. However, little if any information has been forthcoming regarding the axial organization of the microfibril. This, in part, may be attributed to the large depth of focus of the electron microscope coupled with ...

Measuring the fine structure constant, α, using helium fine structure

Proceedings of Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements Digest, 1995
The fine structure of the 2/sup 3/S-2/sup 3/P transition in helium has been precisely measured using laser excitation of an atomic beam. The results give /spl alpha//sup -1/=137.035 853 (3) (7) (99). The three values of standard deviation are from the uncertainty in the measured atomic frequency interval, the total experimental error (including the ...

Fine-Structure Constant

2009
F Robert Karplus and Norman Kroll first attempted this type of calculation using Feynman’s diagrams soon after learning the new techniques from Dyson [2]. Eight years later, several other physicists found a few algebraic errors in the calculation, whose correction only affected the fifth decimal place of the original answer.

Fine Structural Changes of the Liver.

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1963
Excerpt The fine structural study of the normal and abnormal liver has brought to light many new structures, some that occur in every cell, and others, only erratically.

The fine structure constant from helium fine structure

Physics Letters A, 1976
New theoretical values of the 23P fine structure splittings in helium are presented. If QED is assumed valid, the experimental values of the splittings combined with theory yield a value for the fine structure constant accurate to 0.94 ppm.

Fine structure of As−

Zeitschrift für Physik D Atoms, Molecules and Clusters, 1997
The energies of the As− fine structure components 4p43P1 and 4p43P0 have been determined relative to the 4p43P2 ground state by using photodetachment electron spectroscopy. Fine structure splittings of ΔE(3P1 − 3P2) = 125(3) meV and ΔE(3P0 − 3P2) = 166(5) meV have been obtained.

Fine Structure of the Autophagosome

2008
This chapter describes the electron microscopic fine structure of early and late autophagic vacuoles in mammalian cells. Detailed instructions are given for the preparation of cells for conventional electron microscopy and for the identification of autophagic vacuoles by morphology.
