Effect of fines migration and mineral reactions on CO2-water drainage relative permeability
, 2020CO2-water drainage relative permeability is usually measured in laboratory using a three-stage unsteady-state flooding on cores. This three-stage flooding involves injecting water, then CO2-saturated water, and finally water-saturated supercritical CO2 ...

WATER‐SENSITIVITY AND MIGRATION OF FINES IN THE HOPEMAN SANDSTONE
Journal of Petroleum Geology, 1984Water‐sensitivity tests have been performed on samples of the Triassic Hopeman Sandstone from Clashach Quarry near Elgin in Scotland. Despite the apparent lack of clay minerals in the samples, the permeability of core plugs to NaCl and KCl brines decreases with progressive volume of efflunent, and drops dramatically when distilled water is flushed ...

Fine structure of shark leucocytes during chemotactic migration
Tissue and Cell, 1989It has previously been demonstrated that peripheral blood leucocytes of the nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirrhatum) are capable of in vitro chemotaxis. In the present study we have identified the chemotactic cells as the shark granulocyte and monocyte-macrophage. Chemotaxis assays were set up in blind well chambers.

Efficient fine-grain thread migration with active threads
Proceedings of the First Merged International Parallel Processing Symposium and Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2002Thread migration is established as a mechanism for achieving dynamic load sharing. However, fine-grained migration has not been used due to the high thread and messaging overheads. This paper describes a fine-grained thread migration system whose extensible event mechanism permits an efficient interface between threads and communications without ...

Analytical Modelling of Low-salinity Waterflooding with Fines Migration
Proceedings, 2016Low-salinity waterflood is presently one of the most cost-effective EOR methods. The governing system of equations for oil and water flow with changing water salinity is derived. So-called mechanistic model is developed. This model accounts for two EOR factors: A) fines migration, which is induced by salinity variation and reduces the relative ...

Injectivity formation damage due to fines migration
The APPEA Journal, 2018Formation damage by fines migration during low-salinity water injection can greatly affect field-scale waterflooding projects. In this paper, we present the basic governing equations for single-phase flow with detachment, migration and straining of natural reservoir fines.

Fines Migration in Aquifers and Oilfields: Laboratory and Mathematical Modelling
2018Migration of natural reservoir fines is one of the main causes of formation damage in oil and gas fields. Yet, fines migration can be employed for enhancing reservoir sweep and water production control. Permeability decline due to fine particles’ detachment from reservoir rocks, mobilisation, migration and straining has been widely reported in the ...

Fine-Scaled Orientation Changes in Migrating Shorebirds
Ardea, 2012Flight directions and routes of migrating birds are determined by the birds' compass orientation, but also by effects of wind, social influence, responses to topography and landmarks, and to navigation cues. We investigated the orientation and routes taken by arctic shorebirds during autumn migration in southern Sweden at three different sites situated

Possible migration of oil in the finely dispersed state
International Geology Review, 1980The authors examine the theoretical possibility of hydrocarbon migration as a finely dispersed emulsion and give experimental data from spontaneous ordinary and chemical emulsification of individual hydrocarbons in aqueous solutions of olNa. In a natural environment, in the presence of corresponding conditions (alkalinity of the waters, the presence of
