Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Finite element analysis of human finger injury under blunt impact: Subcutaneous hemorrhage and laceration

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Although previous studies have investigated soft tissue injuries using experiments or computer simulations, few have addressed injury thresholds specific to the human finger, despite the high frequency of finger-related incidents in human-robot ...

Built to Last: Functional and structural mechanisms in the moth olfactory network mitigate effects of neural injury [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Most organisms suffer neuronal damage throughout their lives, which can impair performance of core behaviors. Their neural circuits need to maintain function despite injury, which in particular requires preserving key system outputs. In this work, we explore whether and how certain structural and functional neuronal network motifs act as injury ...

From Mechanoelectric Conversion to Tissue Regeneration: Translational Progress in Piezoelectric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in piezoelectric materials for regenerative medicine, emphasizing their ability to convert mechanical stimuli into bioelectric signals that promote tissue repair. Key discussions cover the intrinsic piezoelectric properties of biological tissues, co‐stimulation cellular mechanisms for tissue regeneration, and ...

A Comparative Analysis of YOLOv5, YOLOv8, and YOLOv10 in Kitchen Safety [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Knife safety in the kitchen is essential for preventing accidents or injuries with an emphasis on proper handling, maintenance, and storage methods. This research presents a comparative analysis of three YOLO models, YOLOv5, YOLOv8, and YOLOv10, to detect the hazards involved in handling knife, concentrating mainly on ensuring fingers are curled while ...

Protein‐Like Polymers Targeting Keap1/Nrf2 as Therapeutics for Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We describe a Keap1 targeting protein‐like polymer (PLP) which activates Nrf2, an important cytoprotective transcription factor for relieving myocardial infarction‐induced oxidative stress. This PLP increases cell survival in vitro in multiple relevant cardiac cell types and elicits pro‐reparative responses, improving cardiac function in a preclinical ...

Data-Driven Ergonomic Risk Assessment of Complex Hand-intensive Manufacturing Processes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Hand-intensive manufacturing processes, such as composite layup and textile draping, require significant human dexterity to accommodate task complexity. These strenuous hand motions often lead to musculoskeletal disorders and rehabilitation surgeries.
