Digital testing device to measure the active range of motion of finger joints using an RGB-D camera
Range of motion (ROM) is an essential index for assessing the effectiveness of therapeutics in clinical practice. Rehabilitation therapists commonly use a goniometer to manually measure the ROM of finger joints.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Development of surface replacement prostheses for the proximal interphalangeal and metacarpo phalangeal joints [PDF]
There were two main aims of the project. A surface replacement prosthesis was previously designed at the University of Durham for the metacarpo-phalangeal joint (MCPJ).

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Developing finger joint biomechanics through a dynamic hand model
The human hand is one of the main limbs in maintaining daily life activities. It functions as an interface between the outside world and the brain, such as in positioning, moving, touching, feeling and grasping objects.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Effect of gap infront the finger tip on tensile strength of finger joint / Omar Wahijan [PDF]
The finger joint are considered as the best configuration of end connection of timber, because their geometrical shape and appearance. The problem in finger joint connection is that the tensile strength is less compared to normal uncut timber member. One
