Dynamic Young’s Modulus of Scarf- and Finger-Jointed Beams using Longitudinal Vibration Method
The elastic properties of oak wood (solid wood, scarf-jointed beams, and finger-jointed beams) and two different, independently applied adhesives (polyvinyl acetate and isocyanate) were investigated. Using a longitudinal vibration technique and comparing

Biomechanical analysis of the human finger extensor mechanism during isometric pressing. [PDF]
This study investigated the effects of the finger extensor mechanism on the bone-to-bone contact forces at the interphalangeal and metacarpal joints and also on the forces in the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles during finger pressing.

Necessary Metacarpophalangeal Joints Range of Motion to Maintain Hand Function
Objective/Background: This study was conducted to ascertain the necessary flexion or extension range of motion (ROM) required for the finger metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints to maintain hand function. Methods: Twenty-one healthy adults were recruited for

Study on the Effect of Finger Joints on the Stiffness of Fibre-Managed E. nitens Sawn Boards
Fibre-managed E. nitens has the potential to be used as a feedstock for engineered wood products. This resource, however, has a number of strength-reducing features that need to be removed, and the board needs to be re-joint to be useful in greater ...

Finger-jointed wood compressed parallel to the grain: Experiment and modelling [PDF]
Compression tests of pine specimens of two types with initial dimensions of 40x40x80 mm and 40x40x80 mm with finger-joints are considered. Tests on similar specimens without finger-joints are also analyses for comparison.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

ABSTRACT Advancing artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed learning and work, yet higher education and professional development programs have not systematically equipped learners for AI‐prevalent environments. This lack of preparation creates uncertainty regarding control, responsibility, trust, and accountability.

Anthropomorphic modular gripper finger actuated by antagonistic wire and shape-memory alloy (SMA) springs [PDF]
The traditional underactuated grippers can only passively adapt to the contour of the object, and the passive contact process may lead to the object slipping, affecting the stability of the grasping process.
