Photonic Engineering Enables All‐Passive Upconversion Imaging with Low‐Intensity Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A passive upconversion imaging system enables the observation of scenes illuminated by low‐intensity incoherent near‐infrared light from 750 to 930 nm, by converting it into the visible without the use of external power. The upconverter is enabled by triplet–triplet annihilation in a bulk heterojunction, with absorption enhanced by plasmonic resonators

Molecular Cross‐Linking of MXenes: Tunable Interfaces and Chemiresistive Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, Ti3C2Tx MXenes are initially functionalized using oleylamine ligands to form stable dispersions in an organic solvent. Subsequently ligand exchange with α,ω‐diaminoalkanes enables cross‐linking, along with precise tuning of interfaces. This structural control translates into tunable charge transport and responsive VOC sensing, showing ...

Multimodal Structural Color Graphics Based on Colloidal Photonic Microdome Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid photonic system combining colloidal crystals and microscale domes is designed to achieve four switchable optical states via the interplay of Bragg reflection and TIR interference. The graphics composed of the photonic microdome arrays provide tunable, angle‐sensitive structural coloration and concealed‐to‐revealed transitions, offering a ...

Citrus tristeza virus p23: Determinants for Nucleolar Localization and Their Influence on Suppression of RNA Silencing and Pathogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2013
Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) encodes a singular protein (p23, 209 amino acids) with multiple functions, including RNA silencing suppression (RSS). Confocal laser-scanning microscopy of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-p23 agroexpressed in Nicotiana ...

Laser‐Microscribed Glass Enables Surface‐Microfluidics‐Facilitated, Affordable, Rapid Cancer Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A transparent, laser‐microscribed glass platform enables cancer diagnosis within 1 h—much faster than histology, which takes days, and free from the chemical or contrast risks of MRI or CT scans. The antibody‐functionalized rough glass surface captures viable cancer cells directly from suspension, allowing instant optical readout and offering a rapid ...

New insights into Citrus genus: From ancient fruits to new hybrids

open access: yesFood Frontiers, 2020
Citrus fruits are among the most ancient known and have always attracted the interest of humans, from both a nutritional and a health point of view. Even though there is substantial scientific literature regarding the Citrus genus and associated isolated
