Error investigation of finite element approximation for a nonlinear Sturm–Liouville problem

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2017
A positive definite differential eigenvalue problem with coefficients depending nonlinearly on the spectral parameter has been studied. The differential eigenvalue problem is formulated as a variational eigenvalue problem in a Hilbert space with bilinear

Langrangian finite element and finite difference methods for poisson problems

open access: yes, 1974
The use of Lagrangian finite element methods for solving a Poisson problem produces systems of linear equations, the global stiffness equations. The components of the vectors which are the solutions of these systems are approximations to the exact ...

Lattice QCD at finite density

open access: yes, 1987
Karsch F. Lattice QCD at finite density. Nuclear Physics, A. 1987;461(1-2):305-316.We discuss the behavior of the zero temperature limit of lattice field theories with finite chemical potential.

Finite-Window RLS Algorithms

open access: yes, 2022
:Two recursive least-square (RLS) adaptive filtering algorithms are most often used in practice, the exponential and sliding (rectangular) window RLS algorithms.

Finiteness Conditions for a Group of Finite Exponent

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1993
A periodic group \(G\) all of whose \(d\)-generator subgroups (for fixed \(d > 1\)) are solvable need not itself be solvable (Golod), and similarly for nilpotence. However if \(G\) is finite, then the solvability of every 2- generator subgroup entails the solvability of \(G\) (Thompson), and likewise for nilpotence.

Finite Groupoids, Finite Coverings and Symmetries in Finite Structures.

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
We propose a novel construction of finite hypergraphs and relational structures that is based on reduced products with Cayley graphs of groupoids. To this end we construct groupoids whose Cayley graphs have large girth not just in the usual sense, but with respect to a discounted distance measure that contracts arbitrarily long sequences of edges ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Minimizing finite automata is computationally hard

open access: yes, 2002
It is known that deterministic finite automata (DFAs) can be algorithmically minimized, i.e., a DFA M can be converted to an equivalent DFA M' which has a minimal number of states. The minimization can be done efficiently [6].

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.
