A new dissipation term for finite-difference simulations in Relativity
We present a new numerical dissipation algorithm, which can be efficiently used in combination with centered finite-difference methods. We start from a formulation of centered finite-volume methods for Numerical Relativity, in which third-order space ...

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Finite-difference methods for simulation models incorporating non-conservative forces
We discuss algorithms applicable to the numerical solution of second-order ordinary differential equations by finite-differences. We make particular reference to the solution of the dissipative particle dynamics fluid model, and present extensive results

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Mimetic Finite Difference methods for Hamiltonian wave equations in 2D
In this paper we consider the numerical solution of the Hamiltonian wave equation in two spatial dimension. We use the Mimetic Finite Difference (MFD) method to approximate the continuous problem combined with a symplectic integration in time to ...

High-order numerical methods for 2D parabolic problems in single and composite domains [PDF]
In this work, we discuss and compare three methods for the numerical approximation of constant- and variable-coefficient diffusion equations in both single and composite domains with possible discontinuity in the solution/flux at interfaces, considering (

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Stable Finite-Difference Methods for Elastic Wave Modeling with Characteristic Boundary Conditions
In this paper, a new stable finite-difference (FD) method for solving elastodynamic equations is presented and applied on the Biot and Biot/squirt (BISQ) models.

Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.
