Virtual Enriching Operators [PDF]
arXiv, 2019We construct bounded linear operators that map $H^1$ conforming Lagrange finite element spaces to $H^2$ conforming virtual element spaces in two and three dimensions. These operators are useful for the analysis of nonstandard finite element methods.

Analysis of a high order Trace Finite Element Method for PDEs on level set surfaces [PDF]
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 2016We present a new high order finite element method for the discretization of partial differential equations on stationary smooth surfaces which are implicitly described as the zero level of a level set function.

Finite element analysis: A boon to dentistry
Journal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2014The finite element analysis (FEA) is an upcoming and significant research tool for biomechanical analyses in biological research. It is an ultimate method for modeling complex structures and analyzing their mechanical properties. In Implantology, FEA has

Finite Element Analysis of Fixed Orthodontic Retainers [PDF]
BioengineeringThe efficacy of retainers is a pivotal concern in orthodontic care. This study examined the biomechanical behaviour of retainers, particularly the influence of retainer stiffness and tooth resilience on force transmission and stress distribution.

Volume staging for arteriovenous malformation SRS treatment using VMAT
Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022Abstract Volume staging involves dividing the target volume into smaller parts and treating each part separately. In this study, the feasibility of volume‐staged stereotactic radiosurgery (VS‐SRS) on a linear accelerator using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and a frameless patient positioning system is investigated.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning
International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Performance analysis of control allocation using data‐driven integral quadratic constraints
Advanced Control for Applications, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022Abstract A new method is presented for evaluating the performance of a nonlinear control allocation system within a linear control loop. To that end, a worst‐case gain analysis problem is formulated that can be readily solved by means of well‐established methods from robustness analysis using integral quadratic constraints (IQCs).

Tailored Torsion and Bending‐Resistant Avian‐Inspired Structures
Advanced Engineering Materials, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022Avian bones are prominent candidates for addressing the torsional and bending issue. They present a unique intertwining of simple components: helicoidal ridges and criss‐crossing struts, bearing flexural and twisting actions of winds. Here, it is set how to harmonically move from the natural to the engineering level to formalize and analyze the ...
