From Laser Scanning to Finite Element Analysis of Complex Buildings by Using a Semi-Automatic Procedure

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2015
In this paper, a new semi-automatic procedure to transform three-dimensional point clouds of complex objects to three-dimensional finite element models is presented and validated. The procedure conceives of the point cloud as a stacking of point sections.

Heterogeneity of Rheumatoid Arthritis‐Associated Interstitial Lung Disease by Longitudinal Forced Vital Capacity Trajectory and Associations with Disease Outcomes

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to identify unique disease trajectories within rheumatoid arthritis‐associated interstitial lung disease (RA‐ILD) based on longitudinal forced vital capacity (FVC) values and their associated clinical outcomes. Methods We performed a cohort study of RA‐ILD within the Veterans Health Administration from 1999‐2021. RA‐ILD patients were

Finite element analysis of human femur bone

open access: yesInternational Journal of Multiphysics, 2016
An effort is made to analyse the stresses experienced by the human femur. In order to achieve these results a CAD model was developed by using the 3-D scanning of generic human femur for an individual of 70 kg weight (approx. averaged adult weight).

The effect of foot orthoses on midfoot pain and the volume of bone marrow lesions in the midfoot: a randomized mechanism of action study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Foot orthoses are thought to improve pain by potentially modifying internal mechanical forces. To test this, we explored whether foot orthoses can modify patterns of bone marrow lesions (BMLs) in people with midfoot pain. Methods Forty‐two people were recruited with midfoot pain and MRI‐confirmed midfoot BMLs.

Finite Element Analysis for Upper Molar Distalization

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2012
Orthodontic literature indicates that upper molar distalisation is a tipping and extrusion movement, combined with mesio-buccal rotation and buccaly-crown torque, depending on the distalisers used.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Finite Element Analysis for the Buckling Load of Corrugated Tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The buckling behavior of the geometry subjected to static loading (compression) is presented. The columns under consideration were made with corrugation perpendicular to the line of action which coincides exactly with the unstrained axis of the column ...
