A Study of Space-Time Discretizations for the Dirac Equation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We study several numerical discretization techniques for the one-space plus one-time dimensional Dirac equation, including finite difference and space-time finite element methods. Two finite difference schemes and several space-time finite elements function spaces are analyzed with respect to known analytic solutions.

Study advances in energy finite element method and its application in predicting high-frequency vibration response of aircraft

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan
The high-frequency vibration problem of structures seriously affects the service safety, reliability and comfort of the aircraft. It is of great academic value and engineering significance to predict the high-frequency vibration response of structures ...

A direct finite element method for elliptic interface problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, a direct finite element method is proposed for solving interface problems on simple unfitted meshes. The fact that the two interface conditions form a $H^{\frac12}(\Gamma)\times H^{-\frac12}(\Gamma)$ pair leads to a simple and direct weak formulation with an integral term for the mutual interaction over the interface, and the well ...

Binary black hole simulation with an adaptive finite element method II: Application of local discontinuous Galerkin method to Einstein equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Finite difference method and pseudo-spectral method have been widely used in the numerical relativity to solve the Einstein equations. As the third major category method to solve partial differential equations, finite element method is much less used in numerical relativity. In this paper we design a finite element algorithm to solve the evolution part

Development of Steel Representation as Embedded Bars in Concrete Using Finite Element Method

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2008
A new model for embedded bar formulation in the finite element analysis is presented, this new model differs from the conventional models, that it can represent the bar in a more accurate way, also it can deal with curved and/or complicated bar geometry.

Convergence of adaptive finite element methods for eigenvalue problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
In this article we prove convergence of adaptive finite element methods for second order elliptic eigenvalue problems. We consider Lagrange finite elements of any degree and prove convergence for simple as well as multiple eigenvalues under a minimal refinement of marked elements, for all reasonable marking strategies, and starting from any initial ...

Sensitivity analysis of non-uniform rational B-splines–based finite element/boundary element coupling in structural-acoustic design

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
For the purpose of modeling the acoustic fluid-structure interaction using direct differentiation method and conducting a structural-acoustic sensitivity analysis, a coupling approach based on the finite element method and the fast multipole boundary ...

A general quadratic enrichment of the Crouzeix--Raviart finite element [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The Crouzeix--Raviart finite element method is widely recognized in the field of finite element analysis due to its nonconforming nature. The main goal of this paper is to present a general strategy for enhancing the Crouzeix--Raviart finite element using quadratic polynomial functions and three additional general degrees of freedom.

induction motor, unbalance, electrical loss, finite element method.

open access: yesIngeniería e Investigación, 2008
This paper shows the pattern of a 7.5 kW squirrel-cage induction motor’s electrical loss in balanced and unbalanced conditions, modelling the motor using the finite element method and comparing the results with experimental data obtained in the ...
