Anisotropic Shear Properties of Organic Interfaces in Bio‐composite Materials
A novel cantilever design enables direct probing of shear properties at single organic interfaces within biocomposite prismatic ultrastructures. By decoupling lateral and torsional shear responses, the method reveals isotropic behavior in Atrina vexillum and pronounced anisotropy in Unio pictorum.

Quasi-static compressive behavior and stability analysis of cellular thin-walled beams
The mechanical behavior and stability of thin-walled I-beams with honeycombs, concave and elliptic cellular under quasi-static uniaxial compression were studied by experiments and the finite element simulation. By comparing results of experiments and the

The semidiscrete Galerkin finite element modeling of compressible viscous flow past an airfoil [PDF]
The primary project was the numerical simulation, by a finite element/finite difference method, of the viscous flow about an airfoil. The secondary project involved the numerical simulation of the three-dimensional separated and vortex-dominated flow ...

This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Dynamic characterization, monitoring and control of rotating flexible beam-mass structures via piezo-embedded techniques [PDF]
A variational principle and a finite element discretization technique were used to derive the dynamic equations for a high speed rotating flexible beam-mass system embedded with piezo-electric materials.

Design and simulation of zipping variable capacitors
Variable capacitors are essential for building tunable RF systems. We present here the design and simulation of novel zipping variable capacitors with a high permittivity dielectric layer. Two modelling techniques are presented: finite element simulation
