Finite-element simulation of solidification
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1990Abstract The problem of predicting the solidification front and the temperature field for the case of the continuous-casting process is of great practical importance. Due to the release of latent heat during the change of phase, such a problem is non-linear and considerably more difficult to solve than the corresponding single-phase problem.

Finite element simulation of ultrasonic embossing on polymers
2014 13th International Conference on Control Automation Robotics & Vision (ICARCV), 2014This paper presents a simulation of polymeric embossing process utilizing ultrasonic vibrations. The embossing process is to use heat to soften the polymeric substrate around the die so that the polymer work piece is able to create the required feature of the die.

Presurgical finite element simulation of scoliosis correction
Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1989For surgical correction of scoliotic spinal deformity, internal fixation systems apply lateral and distractive corrective forces. In order to gain maximal correction, a finite--element analysis of the spinal deformity correction technique has been carried out preoperatively, after first employing the spinal deformity correction finite--element model to

Finite-Element Simulations of Earthquakes
2000This thesis discusses simulations of earthquake ground motions using prescribed ruptures and dynamic failure. Introducing sliding degrees of freedom led to an innovative technique for numerical modeling of earthquake sources. This technique allows efficient implementation of both prescribed ruptures and dynamic failure on an arbitrarily oriented fault ...

A portable parallel finite element simulation system
Proceedings of the 7th ACM international conference on Computing frontiers, 2010In order to adapt various complex parallel environments, increase the utilization ratio of current software and hardware, as well as improve the overall parallel efficiency of parallel FEM, the Parallel Node-based Local Finite Element (PNLFE) System is presented.

Finite Element Simulation of Viscoelastic Damping Materials
2007This article presents the numerical simulation of the static and dynamic response of viscoelastic materials with the finite element method. In particular, elastomeric solids which are of essential engineering interest are discussed. A rubbery elastic manner is assumed to be modeled with an Ogden-type strain energy function well-known from rubber ...

Finite-element Modeling and Simulation
2011This chapter deals with the finite-element method (FEM) of hard machining, mainly turning (two- and three-dimensional (3D)). Results about the influence of working conditions and tool geometry (cutting-edge finishing) on tool forces, temperatures, and stresses when machining AISI 52100 steel are presented.

Finite Element Simulation of Blasting Robote with ANSYS
2019In this paper, the explosive disposal robot arm is taken as the research object. Through the basic theory of robot kinematics, the motion characteristics of the explosive disposal robot are studied, the kinematic parameters of the explosive disposal robot are determined, and the problem of positive motion and inverse motion is solved.

Finite-Element Simulation of Local Oxidation of Silicon
IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 1985In this paper, various numerical models for finite element simulation of local oxidation of silicon are investigated. The simplest one contains linear diffusion of oxidizing species and elastic displacements of dioxide layers. The limitations of this model and the influences of pad-oxide and nitride mask thicknesses as well as temperature are ...
