Non‐locking tetrahedral finite element for surgical simulation [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2008
AbstractTo obtain a very fast solution for finite element models used in surgical simulations, low‐order elements, such as the linear tetrahedron or the linear under‐integrated hexahedron, must be used. Automatic hexahedral mesh generation for complex geometries remains a challenging problem, and therefore tetrahedral or mixed meshes are often ...

Challenges during Flash Lamp Annealing of Aerosol‐Deposited Barium Titanate Films

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aerosol deposition is used to rapidly deposit barium titanate films with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 16 μm at room temperature, eliminating the need for further densification. However, to recover the electromechanical properties, annealing is required, which limits the usage of temperature‐sensitive substrates.

Prediction method for fracture behavior of casting materials under uniaxial tension considering effect of pores

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
Defects are the main factors affecting fracture behavior of casting materials. The fracture behavior of high pressure casting aluminium alloy is predicted using Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) damage model combined with finite element simulation ...

Research on Surface Roughness of Supersonic Vibration Auxiliary Side Milling for Titanium Alloy

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2022
The processed surface contour shape is extracted with the finite element simulation software. The difference value of contour shape change is used as the parameters of balancing surface roughness to construct finite element model of supersonic vibration ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Finite element simulation and analysis of nanometal-semiconductor contacts

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2016
Nanometal-semiconductor contacts in the sub-20-nm range have shown some deviations in electrical characteristics compared to conventional diodes. We have used a finite element simulation software to build and analyze a proposed geometrical model. We used

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.
