Optimizing Finite Impulse Response Filter Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
<div><div><div><p>In this study, we explored a potential design for a 64-tap 16-bit Finite Impulse Response (FIR) Filter, including several optimizations. We used RTL code, synthesized gate-level netlist, and ran PrimeTime analysis for each component and the overall circuit.

Minimum phase finite impulse response filter design

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, 2022
Abstract The design of minimum phase finite impulse response (FIR) filters is considered. The study demonstrates that the residual errors achieved by current state‐of‐the‐art design methods are nowhere near the smallest error possible on a finite resolution digital computer.

Study on optical finite impulse response filter [PDF]

open access: yesOptical Engineering, 2003
We present an optical finite impulse response (FIR) filter design method. Based on crystal birefringence, an optical FIR filter can be designed to produce arbitrary spectrum output. A mathematic model of the optical FIR filter is introduced from the FIR theory. Details of the mapping relationship between an FIR filter and an optical filter are analyzed.

Finite Impulse Response Filter Growth and Applications

open access: yes, 2022
A “Finite Impulse Response (FIR)” filter’s impulse response has a finite period. Higher order FIR filter is used in numerous “Digital Signal Processing (DSP)” applications to attain accurate frequency specifications. With increasing filter length, there is a linear increase in the number of additions and multiplications, increasing computing complexity.

An efficient finite-impulse-response filter model of head-related impulse response [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013
Head-related impulse responses (HRIRs) play a crucial role in binaural 3-D audio rendering. The HRIRs with a couple of hundred-sample lengths result in the high computation cost for the real-time 3-D audio applications especially when multiple sound sources are rendered simultaneously.
