A Comment on Finite Nilpotent Groups of Deficiency Zero

open access: yes, 1980
A finite group is said to have deficiency zero if it can be presented with an equal number of generators and relations. Finite metacyclic groups of deficiency zero have been classified, see [1] or [6].

Finite Matrix Groups over Nilpotent Group Rings

open access: yes, 1996
We study groups of matricesSGLn(ZΓ) of augmentation one over the integral group ring ZΓ of a nilpotent group Γ. We relate the torsion ofSGLn(ZΓ) to the torsion of Γ. We prove that all abelianp-subgroups ofSGLn(ZΓ) can be stably diagonalized.

Random Nilpotent Groups I

open access: yes, 2017
We study random nilpotent groups in the well-established style of random groups, by choosing relators uniformly among freely reduced words of (nearly) equal length and letting the length tend to infinity.

Asymptotically CAT(0) Groups

open access: yes
We develop a general theory for asymptotically CAT(0) groups; these are groups acting geometrically on a geodesic space, all of whose asymptotic cones are CAT(0)

Finite Groups with Automorphism Groups Having Orders 4pq2 (2 < p < q) II

open access: yes, 2017
The authors study and classify finite groups with their automorphism groups having orders 4pq2, where p and q are primes such that 2 < p < q. In 2013 the first and the third authors classified the nilpotent groups of this kind; here the authors ...
