Dual polar spaces of arbitrary rank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In 1982 P. Cameron gave a characterisation of dual polar spaces of finite rank viewed as point-line spaces. This characterisation makes essential use of the fact that dual polar spaces of finite rank have finite diameter.

Some Residual Properties of Finite Rank Groups

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2014
The generalization of one classical Seksenbaev theorem for polycyclic groups is obtained. Seksenbaev proved that if G is a polycyclic group which is residually finite p-group for infinitely many primes p, it is nilpotent. Recall that a group G is said to

Relatively Free Algebras of Finite Rank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Let $\mathbb{K}$ be a field of characteristic zero and $B=B_0+B_1$ a finite dimensional associative superalgebra. In this paper we investigate the polynomial identities of the relatively free algebras of finite rank of the variety $\mathfrak V$ defined by the Grassmann envelope of $B$. We also consider the $k$-th Grassmann Envelope of $B$, $G^{(k)}(B)$,

Vector bundles of finite rank on complete intersections of finite codimension in ind-Grassmannians

open access: yesComplex Manifolds, 2015
In this article we establish an analogue of the Barth-Van de Ven-Tyurin-Sato theorem. We prove that a finite rank vector bundle on a complete intersection of finite codimension in a linear ind-Grassmannian is isomorphic to a direct sum of line bundles.

Surfaces of Finite Domain Rank [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1970
In this paper it is shown that a surface has finite domain rank if and only if it is homeomorphic to a domain of a compact or closed surface.

Finite Weyl groupoids of rank three [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2012
We continue our study of Cartan schemes and their Weyl groupoids. The results in this paper provide an algorithm to determine connected simply connected Cartan schemes of rank three, where the real roots form a finite irreducible root system. The algorithm terminates: Up to equivalence there are exactly 55 such Cartan schemes, and the number of ...

Involutive automorphisms of $N_\circ^\circ$ groups of finite Morley rank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We classify a large class of small groups of finite Morley rank: $N_\circ^\circ$-groups which are the infinite analogues of Thompson's $N$-groups. More precisely, we constrain the $2$-structure of groups of finite Morley rank containing a definable ...

Locally (Soluble-by-Finite) Groups of Finite Rank

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1996
The authors prove the following result: A locally (soluble-by-finite) group with all locally soluble subgroups of finite rank is (locally soluble)-by-finite and of finite rank. After they have shown that the group is of finite rank the result follows from a theorem of N. S. Chernikov.

Valuated Butler groups of finite rank [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2006
AbstractValuated Butler groups of finite rank are investigated. The valuated B2-groups are both epic images and pure subgroups of completely decomposable valuated groups of finite rank (Theorem 3.1). However, there are fundamental changes in the theory of Butler groups when valuations are involved. We introduce valuated B1-groups and show that they are
