Finite rank acoustic scattering problems
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982By comparing several known exact solutions of acoustic scattering problems, it is observed that the scattered fields show some joint features. The directivities which are functions of the direction of incidence and of the observation direction can be expressed in terms of one or two functions of one variable.

On groups of finite normal rank.
2019A group \(G\) is said to have finite normal rank \(r\) if \(r\) is the minimal number with the property that for any finite set of elements \(g_1,\dots,g_n\) of the group \(G\) there exist elements \(h_1,\dots,h_m\) of \(G\) such that \(m\leq r\) and \(\langle h_1,\dots,h_m\rangle^G=\langle g_1,\dots,g_n\rangle^G\).

The classical finite rank theory
1996Abstract In this chapter I develop what I call the ‘classical’ part of the geometric theory, consisting essentially of results of Zilber and Cherlin-HarringtonLachlan from the 1970s and early 1980s. Early work for Buechler falls naturally into this framework.
