An investigation of lateral support systems by the finite element method [PDF]
Bibliography: p. 82-83.The design of lateral support systems, in the context of surface excavations, are usually done using conventional (classical) methods of analysis.

Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

Higher-order finite-difference methods for partial differential equations [PDF]
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This thesis develops two families of numerical methods, based upon rational approximations having distinct real poles, for solving first- and second-order ...

A Bioinspired Sensory‐CAPode With Dual Functionality: Logic Gate and Real‐Time Biosensing
An electrochemical capacitor diode (CAPode) redefines the frontier of iontronics by seamlessly unifying logic computing and biosensing within a single biocompatible platform. Inspired by nature's own ion‐channel circuitry, this elegant ionic system transforms complex chemical signals into precise electrical responses, paving the way for next‐generation

Modified finite-difference approximations near the singularitiy in the problem of motz [PDF]
A simple, modified finite-difference method is described for solving Laplace's equation with boundary singularities of the infinite derivative type. Modified approximations for the derivatives of the Laplacian equation are employed near the singularity ...

Electroforming‐free TiN/SiOx/Cu/SiOx/TiN memristive devices exploit pancake‐like Cu nanoparticles embedded in a SiOx double layer to create a heterogeneous Schottky‐barrier landscape. Under bias, oxygen‐vacancy redistribution progressively lowers local barriers and recruits initially inactive Cu‐PC pathways into a parallel conduction ensemble, enabling

The complexity of the dual bases for Gauss normal bases of type (n,k)(k\geq 3) over finite fields
It is well known that normal bases over finite fields have been implemented efficiently in software. The hardware and time complexity of multiplication using normal bases depends on the structure of the normal basis used, particularly on the complexity ...

Programmable 2D magnetic clusterphenes are realized through a ligand‐mediated cluster‐assembly strategy. Direct linking of magnetic superatomic clusters enhances electron delocalization and symmetry breaking, enabling the concurrent strengthening of magnetic exchange interactions and spin–orbit coupling.

Impact of Disorder on Microscopic Superconducting and Normal‐State Responses in a Kagome Metal
Using depth‐resolved, field‐ and pressure‐dependent μSR$\umu{\rm SR}$ measurements, we show that disorder in Ta‐doped KV3Sb5 drives a crossover from nodal to nodeless superconductivity while strongly modifying the normal‐state magnetic response. Our results reveal that disorder affects superconductivity and magnetism in fundamentally different ways ...
